Importing an LTFS tape into P5
Posted by Andre Kuehnemund on 17 October 2014 9:51

Customer attempted to import a LTFS tape into P5. The import failed. The logs showed:

...

[16. Oct 2014 10:41][-thread:b0927000-] Error: awst0: label ltfs: couldn't open "/usr/local/aw/temp/ltfs0096628517/.PresSTOREsVolumeID": read-only file system

...

The reason why the import failed was that the write protection tab had been set on the tape cartridge. When P5 imports a LTFS formatted tape, it writes a small proprietary file to the root of the file system - which P5 then uses to identify the tape and in order to create a entry for this volume in the volumes list.
