Moving P4/P5 to another drive on Windows

In order to move P4 to another drive in Windows, P4 needs to be uninstalled from the C: drive, then reinstalled to the desired drive (e.g. D:). Finally, the P4 configuration, indexes etc. would need to be moved from the old to the new location. The following is a detailed list of the necessary steps:

- Stop P4.

- Create a copy of the P4 configuration folder: C:/Program Files/Archiware/Presstore/conf.

- Uninstall P4 like any other Windows program via the Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Software.

- Reinstall P4, this time choose D: as the installation target volume.

- Log in to the P4 web interface to confirm the install was successful. You should see an unconfigured P4 install.

- Stop P4.

- Replace the 'conf' folder in the P4 installation directory on the D: drive with the 'conf' folder from the C: drive.

- Start P4.

- Login to P4. You should see your old P4 configuration and indexes.

 

For P5, please note the different folder path. P5 stores its configuration database, indices and logs in the 'config' (vs. 'conf') subfolder of the P5 installation folder. In addition, P5 is by default installed in 'C:\Program Files\Archiware\Data Lifecycle Management Suite'. Please substitute the the P4 path/folders names with their P5 equivalents when moving P5.
