Why is the Maintenance Expiration Date in PresSTORE not updated after License Renewal
Posted by Sven Koester on 29 November 2012 11:55

In PresSTORE, the maintenance period is shown in the license information.

Same as all other license info, it is coded in the license key and is not updated automatically. So the maintenance expiration date remains unchanged as long as no new license key is entered.

After license renewal, a new key is made available on the ARCHIWARE web site at http://www.archiware.com/portal

The maintenance expiration date has however no impact on the function. Even if maintenance is expired, PresSTORE is still licensed and will remain running. However new updates will not accept the old license key, so the key should be entered with the next update at the latest.

Hi, you mentioned that 'The maintenance expiration date has however no impact on the function. Even if maintenance is expired, PresSTORE is still licensed and will remain running' by this I gather that I will still be able to archive after expiration. Would you be able to tell me what effect the maintenance expiration has. Thank You.

The maintenance expiration date determines whether or not you're eligible to update to a later software version. Only customers with a valid software maintenance agreement can upgrade. While older software versions will most likely continue to function, they are typically not eligible to receive bug fixes, patches and/or additional features.

If maintenance is expired, can I still transfer the license key to a new Host ID in the event of a logic board replacement?

Brian: Yes, you can still transfer the license to a new host-ID.
